The State Board of Agriculture was established to investigate and make recommendations relating to the improvement of agriculture, agricultural education, and husbandry in Massachusetts; to collect statistics from agricultural societies; and to publish an annual abstract of statistics. Incoming correspondence to the secretary is a chronological filing of requests from agricultural societies in Massachusetts and throughout the country, the Massachusetts Agricultural College in Amherst, agricultural associations, businessess, farmers, and other individuals for information or publications of the board.
